    Department Profile

Mr K Madhav BA - Head of Business Studies & Economics
    Ms R
    Mahil BA (Hons.)
    Mrs R Symons BA (Hons.)

The Economics course is one of the most popular taken by students who are keen to learn about the economy and who appreciate how it contributes to the wider economic and social environment. The Economics department consists of three experienced and motivational teachers who have practical knowledge of working in industry. This department is highly motivated to achieve excellence and aims to offer students interactive opportunities to develop a range of economics concepts and an ability to apply these concepts in a variety of contexts. We seek to instil a thorough understanding of theory and practice through relevant teaching strategies and industrial links ranging from arranging relevant educational visits to the Bank of England, The Metal Exchange and inviting guest speakers.

    Cross-curricular Links

The department is actively involved in Enterprise education and developing financial awareness and business life skills through whole school activities for example in the Week Without Walls, PSCHE programme and the Public Speaking Day.
