GCSE History focuses on the period after World War One (1919-1955). Students learn how the peace treaty at the end of the war ultimately led to the rise of fascism and the outbreak of World War Two. The course continues chronologically, and students explore how the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the West developed, and the build-up of mistrust and suspicion that almost caused a nuclear holocaust. The in-depth studies look at the Vietnam Conflict and the rise of Nazi Germany. The coursework consists of two source-based assignments, both relating to the world wars.
