  • Gifted and Talented Students' Event

Upton Court Grammar School hosted a Gifted and Talented students' event for nine Slough primary schools on Wednesday 12 July. Each school was invited to send four of their more able year 5 students to the school for a day involving a mathematics challenge and performing selected scenes from William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar.

In all, 34 students attended the day and engaged in highly challenging activities with enthusiasm and flair, a testament to the quality of education provided by Slough primary schools and their teachers. The Shakespeare task was particularly challenging, as it took the ten-year-olds out of their comfort zone when they performed in front of their peers and parents for the final showcase.

Medals and certificates of participation were awarded, along with trophies to the two winning schools for drama and top three cups for the winning schools in Mathematics.

In Mathematics, the top three schools were Cippenham Primary School (first position), Willow Primary School (second position) and Marish Primary School (third position), and the two drama awards went to The Priory School and St Mary’s CE Primary School.

Upton Court Grammar School Principal Mercedes Hernandez Estrada said, “it is a pleasure to be able to host such an exciting day for young children and to see how much they enjoyed the challenges."
