Prize Giving 2017

Upton Court Grammar School celebrated success on Thursday 21 September at its Prize Giving ceremony, awarding certificates and trophies to students achieving the best GCSE and A Level grades from the summer 2017 examinations. There were also prizes for overall performance, contribution to the school community, music, sports, young enterprise, charity and essay writing.

The annual event was attended by staff and governors of the school, as well as the Mayor of Slough, local Counsellors, Old Paludians, parents and former students now embarking upon University education. Honorary fellowships were awarded to Jackie Wardle for her 26 year service to the school as Business Manager, and Dr Bhupinderpal Sidhu who retired last year after 13 years of teaching Physics.

Guest of honour was Shaheed Fatima QC, an award winning international Barrister based at Blackstone Chambers, who commended students as certificates were awarded. She delivered an inspirational speech on how everyone can make a difference to the world, while giving anecdotes about obstacles she had to overcome in her early years at the bar.

Head of School at Upton Court Grammar School, Mark Pritchard, said "Upton Court Grammar School is such a special place and our prize giving ceremony was an opportunity to celebrate all the ways our students are successful. The whole community came together to show their pride in our young people and it gave us a chance to wish our wonderful year 13 students the best of luck as they embark on their journeys to university.”
