Upton Court Grammar School student Megan Smith, 13, competed in a number of gymnastics competitions in recent weeks. She competed in a trio of girls from Spethorne Gymnastics in against teams from the UK and Europe.
In the first competition held in Newcastle Upon Tyne where Megan took part in the Sharlene Slater International competition, the group achieved Gold Medal having secured joint first position.
The following weekend, Megan travelled to Mainz, Germany, where her team won second place in two routines in the Maia International Cup tournament, gaining silver medals in each. These wins put them forward in the finals, where they beat stiff competition from Germany’s national champions and secured another Gold Medal.
Finally, Megan’s team participated in the British Open Tournament in Stoke and won second place with a silver medal.
