Academic achievement recognised at annual prize giving ceremony

Students at Upton Court Grammar School celebrated success on 8 July 2014 with the annual prize giving ceremony. Academic achievement was recognised through the awards of subject prizes across the curriculum to students of years 7 – 10.

Guest speaker was Andy Barnes, former Sales Director of Channel 4, who is widely known in the media industry for his successes in raising the profile and revenue of the television channel. He motivated students by highlighting the changes in the modern world over the past few decades and how youngsters can prepare for the future.

The prestigious Principal’s Excellence Award was handed to Kiran Handa, 15, for maturity and commitment across all subjects and being a member of several sports teams.

Upton Court Grammar School Principal Mercedes Hernandez Estrada said “If the future of a country depends upon the education of its youth we can confidently say the young people here today have the qualities the world needs: resilience, determination, leadership, cooperation and responsibility.”
