Upton Court Grammar School Year 11 Girls Netball team wins Slough Schools tournament
The year 11 girls netball team at Upton Court Grammar School won the Slough secondary schools tournament, with a series of wins. The rules this year were changed from traditional play-offs including semi-final and final matches, to include round robin matches between the eight schools that had entered. Amongst the winning games, the Upton Court team were victorious against Langley Grammar (7-0), St Bernard’s Catholic Grammar (7-2) and Westgate School (4-2).
The girls’ team had prepared for this tournament for many months, and were delighted to have won. PE teacher Leah Smith said “the girls remained strong in both attack and defence under some challenging circumstances and displayed excellent etiquette throughout the tournament.”
Upton Court Grammar Principal Mercedes Hernandez Estrada said “The hard work and determination of these young ladies is inspirational. Their talents extend from the academic to the creative and, as evidenced here, to the sports field. This is a well-deserved win.”
