Welcome to the Upton Court Grammar School website!

The school, previously known as Slough Grammar School, changed its name to mark the exciting transition into its second century. The school values its tradition of excellence and honours all of those who have, through their academic credentials and personal commitment, become outstanding members of the community and role models for the next generation.

At the forefront of education for more than a century, Upton Court Grammar School successfully blends tradition with a forward-thinking, internationally-minded educational philosophy that truly meets the needs of young people venturing into adulthood in an increasingly complex world.

I am personally driven by the desire to challenge able students and nurture them to think creatively, critically and reflectively. Of equal importance is finding the appropriate level academically and allowing them to develop as a whole person through nurturing and valuing non-academic skills.

I believe achieving academic qualifications is important, but also look to develop personal qualities like leadership and teamwork, determination and flexibility, respect and consideration, confidence and self-belief. We understand that many of life’s successes are governed by attitude rather than innate intelligence and that a strong work ethic will take you far in life.

As a selective school, we provide academic young people from all backgrounds with the means to compete in the challenging future labour market and become principled and active citizens. We also value personal growth and expect our students to act with integrity and honesty, with a strong sense of fairness, justice and respect for the dignity of the individual, groups and communities. I am proud to say that our students understand the importance of intellectual, physical and emotional balance to achieve personal well-being for themselves and others. They are a credit to the school and to their families.

Education at Upton Court Grammar School is about inspirational teachers and aspirational pupils based firmly on high expectations. We expect nothing but the best from our students who continue to reward our trust with excellent exam results, sought after university offers and exceptional levels of participation in extracurricular and enrichment activities. Our results speak for themselves and have been validated by an Ofsted inspection grading of Outstanding in every category.

Upton Court is a successful school community built on a strong culture and curriculum which takes into account the richness and diversity brought in by its members. As a world class school we take our commitment to the wider community very seriously and expect our parents to be active participants. I know I can count on every single member of the school community’s support to fulfil one simple aim:

Ad astra (reach for the stars)

If you share this vision and want your child to be part of it, I look forward to working with you.
