Psychology is the scientific investigation of behaviour and mental processes. It applies to many facets of human life and bridges the gaps between the natural and human sciences. Psychology is offered at both AS and A2 level and is a very popular choice for both male and female students in Post 16/Key Stage 5 as psychology can be combined with variety of disciplines such as medicine, biology, business, education and law. The skills that a psychology acquires have a wide range of benefits that stretch beyond on the sixth form and these skills are transferrable to all degree courses and career paths. Psychology A Level appears as a facilitating subject when applying to university meaning it a valued course by all universities.
Psychology has regular links with the Science faculty especially its biological interconnections. Psychology also has links with the PCR faculty such as ethical considerations discussed in Religious Studies and evaluation skills that Critical Thinking develops.
