Results Summary

2020 GCSE & A Level Results

Upton Court Grammar School is delighted to announce another year of outstanding GCSE and A Level results, from summer 2020.

100% of all GCSE candidates achieved 5 or more passes between grades 9 - 4 (A*-C), including English and Maths.

63% of all GCSEs awarded were 9/8/7 grades, and 45% of students achieved eight or more 9/7 grades.

For the recently introduced numerical grading system, grade 8 represents a low A* and 9 represents a high A*. Approximately 40% of grades achieved a grade 8 or 9. In addition, approximately 19% of all GCSE exam entries achieved a grade 9.

At A Level, approximately 64% of all qualifications awarded scored A* to B, with twenty-four students achieving three A grades or above.

79% of outgoing KS5 students have accepted a university place with 29% enrolling on courses at Russell group universities, and 100% of outgoing KS4 students have continued with further education or training.

Results Summary:

  • Attainment 8 Score: 7.5* – average attainment across 8 subjects.
  • Progress 8 Score: +0.88* – this means that UCGS students achieved almost one grade higher in their GCSEs compared to students in other schools with similar prior attainment.
  • Percentage GCSE students achieving 5+ grades 9 - 4 (A*-C), including English and Maths: 100%.
  • Percentage GCSE students achieving grades 9-5 in English and Maths:
  • Percentage of GCSE entries achieving grades 9-8: 40%
  • Percentage of GCSE entries achieving A*-A/grades 9-7: 63%
  • Percentage of GCSE students entering for the English Baccalaureate: 100%
