The Science College makes a real difference in the life of our students moving them towards a better future and believes that in seeking excellence, one must look to the solution not the problem, encouraging the students to work to overcome difficulties in order to succeed. We provide a vibrant, exciting learning experience for all pupils led by subject experts whose first concern is the progress of their students. Our students can expect fascinating lessons where in depth Science is presented in the wider world context.
Opportunities for students to participate in extension Science activities, such as the ‘Spooky Science’ week for Key Stage three lead to active, motivated learners who forge ahead, not only in Science but in transferring practical and analytical key skills acquired across the curriculum. Since its inception, the Science College has worked closely with other Faculties in collaborative curricular and extra-curricular provision not only within lessons but also as part of extended schools. Our programme includes such events as an annual Birds of Prey show, Science and Technology Plastics Workshop, the Dulux Competition Team, the AWE Engineering Challenge as well as interesting educational visits for example, to study conservation at London Zoo and the National Gallery for the Science of pigments.
The Science College has developed strong links with universities which bring inspirational lecturers into school and with local businesses whose involvement enhances the educational experience. A dedicated team of teachers work with local primary schools bringing Science investigations to life for their pupils. Our new Science Ambassadors programme will draw students into working with younger pupils both in school and at primary schools.
